When your business is your baby
April 2, 2018
In March of 2018 the ladies attending K-Club were treated to time out with Jennie Johnson MBE, founder of the Kids Allowed nursery chain.
We were kindly hosted by KPMG in their offices in central Manchester and enjoyed a buffet lunch before settling down to hear from Jennie.
Her business was borne out of a need to cater for her own family’s childcare requirements but it did not come without its problems along the way. The business has grown and expanded in the region and Jennie places the need to find quality, trained staff at the heart of it. We found it interesting to hear about the trials and successes of the business over the last 15 years and a hint of plans for the future!
The main take-aways for any business owner/leader were;
Not to cut corners,
To be the best that you can be,
To be specific in meetings
To remember that colleagues are key.
She advised to be resilient to the ‘detractors’ and to stay around the ‘promoters’ and to find ‘enoughness’ in your life.
A donation from ticket sales was made to a charity where Jennie is a patron; the Friends of Rosie Children’s Cancer Research Charity.
