Performance Director for British Para-Swimming
Chris Furber joined British Para-Swimming as Performance Director in 2013 and has taken the team from 7th place at London 2012 to 3rd on the Medals table at Rio 2016 winning 47 medals.
Before joining Para-Swimming, he led the Para-Cycling team to the Paralympics in 2008 and 2012 with the latter supporting Dame Sarah Storey to win her eleventh gold medal. When he joined British Cycling, aged 24, he was the youngest coach employed by British Cycling.
In his career, he has helped guide athletes to 89 Paralympic medals including 41 gold and topped the medals tables in Para-Cycling in 2008 and 2012.
Over the last 12 years, Chris has guided his teams to over 400 medals at Europeans, Worlds and Paralympic levels, more than any other Olympic and Paralympic Coach/Performance Director.
Outside of Para-Swimming, Chris helps businesses and organisations to better understand and optimise performance. He is also an experienced executive coach and mentor.
