Where PR Eagles Dare to Fly
March 7, 2019
We had over 30 attendees at the K-Club’s Lunchtime event last week at the Barclays Eagle Lab in Albert Square, Manchester where they came to network with other women in business in the region and to hear from our speaker Sandy Lindsay MBE of Tangerine PR talking about her business journey and the important lessons she’s learned along the way.
Guests were treated to an open and honest account of both the high and low points Sandy has encountered over the years in the PR sector, along as well some useful nuggets to implement in their own businesses in the future. Questions were asked around the Employee Ownership model that she implemented in her business almost 2 years ago as well as the innovative Juice Academy which came out of a more general need to fill digital marketing roles with the right people.
We also heard from Jean Mills from Sandy’s chosen charity – Forever Manchester – who through their fundraising efforts have delivered over £38m into local communities benefiting over 1m people over the last 30 years. She shared some interesting examples of where their funding has been put to good use, allowing the audience to understand how they could get involved in the future. The charity received a percentage donation from the ticket sales from this event.
The next K-Club Women’s Event will be an afternoon tea on Tuesday 14th May at the Great John St Hotel in Manchester and we will hear from Joy Kingsley, Senior Partner of JMW who will talk on ‘Scaling up a business whilst juggling the demands of business and family life’.
