Podcast #1 – Employee Ownership
April 30, 2020
Employee Ownership is growing in popularity with businesses across the UK.
Employee owned businesses deliver around 4% of the UK GDP each year and businesses adopting this model often achieve higher productivity, greater levels of innovation and can be more resilient to a changing economy. Their workforces are also more engaged, more fulfilled and less stressed.
Ever wondered if the Employee Ownership model might be for you?
In this podcast which was recorded at the end of our Breakfast event in February 2020, Rob Davenport and Deb Oxley OBE talk with Penny Haslam about all things Employee Ownership.
Rob Davenport is Chief Executive of Shawston Holdings, the only employee owned UK distributor with national depot coverage and deep stocks to service the Mechanical Services, Fire Sprinkler and Dry/Wet Riser markets. Shawston’s operate from 5 depots with sales approaching £25 million p.a. and has 120 co-owner employees.
Deb Oxley OBE is the CEO of the Employee Ownership Association (EOA), the UKs leading voice on employee ownership, representing a sector that contributes between £30-40bn a year to UK GDP. It is also a membership organisation for UK businesses of private or public sector origin, that are wholly or partially owned by their employees.
Penny Haslam is a former BBC business journalist, who has presented on BBC Breakfast, the News Channel and Radio 5 Live. She’s now an impressive, award winning motivational speaker, who talks about visibility and confidence.
