Connecting Liverpool to the World!
June 23, 2015
At our recent event at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool Airport Hotel in Speke, attendees heard from two very different speakers.
Mark Povall of Liverpool John Lennon Airport explained the competitive nature of the UK airport sector, and how the airlines essentially dictate the flight routes in and out of each regional airport. Despite passenger numbers having fallen slightly, a recent change in ownership and strategic direction has enabled LJLA to open up over 10 new routes so far this year, enabling passengers to access almost 70 destinations. The aim is, of course, for LJLA to be the airport of choice in the region.
Jim Davies OBE, co-founder of DWF, shared his journey through the legal industry; citing the benefits of ‘strategy on the move’ working within a small firm in the early days and the ‘greatest collegiate spirit’ of those he worked with. His view on entrepreneurial individuals was insightful, believing that they;
• Have a passion to get out of bed in the morning, supported by perseverence to succeed
• Are full of energy and enthusiasm
• Use their creative skilss to create a life – not a living
• Shout about their business – don’t hide
• Create their own lives and rules
Attendees were treated to Jim’s positive outlook on life and his support of those with some get-up and go!
